More than £1billion has already been spent by top-flight clubs this summer. There are, however, still a number of teams in the market for new additions before the domestic window closes. And here are five Championship players who could make the move to a Premier League side before Friday’s deadline.

Said Benrahma (Brentford)

Few shone as brightly as Benrahma in the Championship last term, with the Algerian scoring 17 and assisting nine in 48 appearances for Brentford.

Ultimately, the Bees fell just short of clinching promotion to the Premier League, losing the play-off final to Fulham, but that hasn’t stopped Benrahma from being linked to top flight clubs this summer.

Most recently, West Ham have taken an interest in the 25-year-old, tabling an offer worth an initial £25 million plus £5 million in add-ons for Benrahma.

The deal has, however, run into complications (per the Guardian), meaning this transfer could go down to the wire with Friday’s deadline looming.

Todd Cantwell (Norwich City)

Norwich City might have suffered relegation from the Premier League last season, but Cantwell did enough to prove he still belongs in the top flight.

The 22-year-old scored six goals and claimed two assists in 37 league appearances for the Canaries in 2019/20, demonstrating his versatility in a number of positions across the attacking line.

Cantwell has been linked with a move to Leeds United, with the club’s director of football Victor Orta admitting their interest in the player. Norwich are reportedly demanding at least £15 million for Cantwell, but that could still represent value for money given his performances last term.

Josh King (Bournemouth)

Bournemouth’s relegation from the Premier League prompted something of a fire sale at the Vitality Stadium.

Nathan Ake left for Manchester City and Callum Wilson joined Newcastle United. Josh King could be next to leave the club to stay in the Premier League, with a number of clubs interested in the Norwegian.

Manchester United weighed up a move for King in January, and Tottenham Hotspur were also linked before signing Carlos Vinicius on loan.

Now, Everton and West Brom are reportedly interested in the 28-year-old. It seems inevitable King will earn himself a Premier League move before Friday, but the exact destination remains unknown.

Joe Rodon (Swansea City)

Tottenham need a new centre-back and Rodon has risen to the top of their shortlist. The Wales international has also been previously linked with a move to Manchester United, but it’s Spurs who now appear most interested, with Swansea City setting an asking price in excess of £15 million.

Sky Sports reported on October 5 that Tottenham were close to reaching an agreement with Swansea for the transfer of their prize asset, but with the deadline fast approaching a deal is still to be struck.

Rodon is one of the standout defenders in the second tier and looks ready for the step up to the Premier League.
