Raith Rovers 3-0 Arbroath: Hosts make winning return to second tier

Raith Rovers eased to victory in their first Scottish Championship game in three years as Arbroath were blown away before the break.

Dan Armstrong, Reghan Tumilty and a Regan Hendry penalty in 13 first-half minutes gave the newly-promoted Fifers an unassailable lead.

Arbroath defender Thomas O’Brien was sent off a minute from time as his handball earned a second booking.

But Hendry had the resulting spot-kick saved by goalkeeper Derek Gaston.

Raith assistant manager Paul Smith: “We thoroughly deserved the win and it’s great to see the goals spread across the team.”

Arbroath assistant manager Iain Campbell: “We fell below our standards today. I’m immensely disappointed at the result, that performance is not Arbroath.”
