Manchester United transfer news LIVE: Jadon Sancho, Alex Telles, Ousmane Dembele, Ansu Fati, Chris Smalling

United are continuing to weigh up alternatives to Jadon Sancho, with Borussia Dortmund now determined to keep the winger. However, both Ousmane Dembele and Ansu Fati seem destined to remain at Barcelona this summer.

Solskjaer’s side are now closing in on a deal for Porto full-back Alex Telles, though, after missing out on Real Madrid’s Sergio Reguilon. Meanwhile, Chris Smalling is edging towards his exit, with the centre-back desperate to return to Roma after a successful loan spell. The Serie A side are thought to have made a second bid, but United are still holding out for around £18m. Here are the latest news, rumours and updates surrounding deals at Old Trafford:

Ivan Perisic has been linked with a move to Old Trafford after Bayern Munich decided not to make his loan move to the club permanent.

The Bundesliga champions did not want to pay the fee for that Inter Milan were asking for for the left winger.

Manchester United have been linked with Perisic since the Jose Mourinho days, and the club remains the ‘hottest’ option for Perisic.

It’s been claimed that talks have been ongoing with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side for weeks.

FussballTransfers however, have an exclusive on Thursday morning. claiming PSG sporting director Leonardo has personally asked about loaning Perisic from Inter.

United have been open in their search for a right winger and Perisic plays primarily on the left, although he’s two-footed and is able to play on the right.

United’s pursuit of Jadon Sancho doesn’t look likely to happen now and at this stage of the window compromises may have to be made.

Dayot Upamecano has confirmed that he’s received interest from other clubs about a possible move away from Germany but he, understandably, doesn’t say if Manchester United are one of those clubs.

Speaking to Telefoot, Upamecano committed to RB Leipzig for the foreseeable future but left the door open for a possible move before the end of the window saying:

“For the moment I am with Leipzig but it is true that I was able to discuss with certain clubs,

“As I said, for now I am focused on Leipzig and I will continue to play for Leipzig. And then we’ll see.

“You never know what can happen in a football season.”

The Daily Mail are reporting that Porto are asking for a little as £17 million for left-back Alex Telles and that Manchester United are trying to drive down that price.

This seems way too low for a player with a release clause of £36.6 million even if his contract is up next summer.

Various reports have quoted prices ranging from £17m-£37m for the defender so until a deal is done we won’t know how much United are willing to pay.

The newspaper says that United are waiting on a revised bid from Roma for defender Chris Smalling after the first offer of £11 million was rejected.

If Roma meet, or come close, to the rumoured £18 million United are asking for they may use the Smalling sale to secure Telles from Porto.

Alex Telles wants to leave Porto and come to the Premier League according to reports.

The Daily Telegraph say that the Brazilian left-back ‘has signalled his determination’ to make a move to Manchester United.

It has been rumoured that the club have agreed personal terms with Telles but are still at odds with Porto over a transfer fee.

The 27-year-old has a £36.6 million release clause in his contract but will be free to foreign clubs from January, prompting Old Trafford bosses to attempt to secure him for less.

Luis Suarez was blocked from moving to Manchester United this summer by a clause in his contract, according to reports.

ESPN say that any possible moves to United, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain were all blocked, even on a free transfer.

MEN Sport understand United had no intentions of signing the former Liverpool forward but they wouldn’t have been able to sign him even if they did.

Suarez eventually joined Atletico Madrid in a move worth around £5.5 million.

A successful loan spell at Roma last season has the Italian side preparing to make another bid for Manchester United’s Chris Smallingaccording to The Guardian.

The Italian club had already submitted an £11 million bid for the centre-back which Manchester United rejected out of hand believing Smalling to be worth closer to £18 million.

However, it is reported that Roma are preparing another bid, closer to United’s valuation and manager Paulo Fonseca said at the weekend that the 30-year-old could join the Serie A team “in the next few days”.

Manchester United are negoiating with Porto over a deal to sign left-back Alex Telles from the club, but with the two clubs yet to agree over a price for the defended United are lining up possible alternatives.

Speaking on The Transfer Window Podcast, Duncan Castles suggests that the club are monitoring Monaco’s Fode Ballo-Toure who impressed at the Ligue 1 club last season.

MEN Sport are saying that Dynamo Kyiv’s Vitaliy Mykolenko is also a target while The Sun claim that  Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico is also an option.

The Eredivisie champions have an asking price in the region of £23million for Tagliafico.

SportsMole are claiming that Manchester United could move in for Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti in the closing stages of the transfer window.

Chris Smalling is expected to move to Roma this summer and Marcos Rojo is rumoured to also be leaving Old Trafford which would leave room for United to bring in another centre-back.

United’s focus has been on Dayot Upamecano but France Football say that United are weighing up an apporach for Umtiti.

The France international has a contract at Camp Nou until the summer of 2023 but could allegedly be allowed to leave for free as the Catalan giants attempt to reduce their wage bill.

The 2018 World Cup winner has made 116 appearances for Barca in all competitions, but a number of injury problems restricted him to just 13 La Liga outings in 2019/20.

Umtiti has not played for his current club since the end of June due to a knee issue.

West Ham are reportedly eyeing up a move for United’s Jesse Lingard.

Foot Mercato reports that the club are interested in snapping up the midfielder in this transfer window.

Lingard has fallen out of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Premier League plans and features mainly in cup competitions for the Red Devils.

There have been a number of clubs linked with a move for the England international including Tottenham and now West Ham.

The Hammers are said to be interested in signing the 27-year-old, who has just a year left on his current contract.

Lingard is valued at around £15.75m, which should fit within David Moyes’ preferred budget.

Lingard struggled for minutes last season, making just nine starts in the Premier League, and scoring only one goal in the top-flight throughout the campaign.

Manchester United have been monitoring Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig as a possible partner to Harry Maguire at centre-back and now they’ve been given fresh hope that a deal could be done for the defender.

Sportske are reporting that Leipzig have agreed a deal with Dinamo Zagreb to sign Croatian defender Josip Gvardiol as a replacement for Upamecano, which means they expect him to leave this summer.

It was not expected that United would sign a centre-back in this window as they seem to be prioritising a right winger and a left back but if it’s now easier to get Upamecano’s signature they may just swoop at the chance.
