Dortmund chief says United ‘misjudged’ Sancho move

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke believes Manchester United “misjudged” their move for Jadon Sancho this summer.

As reported by MEN Sport , Sancho was United’s priority target throughout the transfer window but they failed to reach an agreement with Dortmund.

The German outfit were only willing to do business if United produced an offer in the region of £108million, something which never came close to fruition.

Sancho has three years remaining on his contract with the Bundesliga club and did not agitate for a switch to Old Trafford, meaning Dortmund were not concerned with the winger forcing a move.

And now Watzke has said United misjudged their deal for Sancho.

He told ZDF Sports: “[They] misjudged the situation. We would be more willing to compromise. We had a clear line and will continue to do so next summer.

“In this industry, you can never say that a player is completely unsellable.”

Asked if he ever doubted that Sancho would remain Dortmund for a final season, Watzke responded: “I heard and read everywhere in the spring that Sancho was gone. But he’s here.

“We had an agreement with him and it didn’t look like that.”

Fernandes explains his new celebration

Bruno Fernandes has explained the meaning behind his new celebration, which was debuted against Newcastle United.

The Portuguese has produced an impressive 15 goals in 27 games at United and added to that with a strike against the Magpies on Saturday.

And he has now revealed the sucking on his thumb celebration is dedicated to both of his young children.

”In Portugal, when I was playing, and I started my second season in Sporting, my daughter was growing up, you know,” he said in July.

“Sometimes, me and my wife, we talk with her and she started doing like this [puts his fingers in his ears] after she started doing this. And so, I picked this to celebrate the goals for her.”

Mbappe fires warning to new United signing Cavani

Kylian Mbappe has no issue facing former PSG teammate and new Manchester United signing Edinson Cavani in the Champions League.

The Uruguayan departed the Parc des Princes on a free transfer this summer and agreed a deal with United on deadline day.

They will now face off in the Champions League this week and Mbappe says he has no qualms going against his one-time teammate.

“Not at all, he is in a different team now,” the Frenchman told TF1 when asked if it would be strange coming up against his former teammate.

“I wish him the best. We are going to play against him and try to beat him.”
