Man Utd keeper David de Gea ‘kicks ball’ at Neal Maupay after cheeky penalty | Football | Sport

Manchester United star David de Gea apparently kicked the ball at Brighton striker Neal Maupay after he cheekily dinked a penalty down the middle to open the scoring at the Amex Stadium.

Bruno Fernandes was punished for fouling the lively Tariq Lamptey in the box.

Maupay kept his composure to net a Panenka as De Ge dived to his left.

After picking the ball out of his net, the United shot stopper aimed his effort at the Brighton forward.

The incident was not captured on camera but on commentary, Steve McManaman said: “It’s actually quite funny. Firstly, it’s quite sad there’s no fans there to witness that.

“But when the ball goes out the net, David de Gea kicks the ball at Maupay. He doesn’t kick it very hard but you can see the frustration in the keeper. But it’s a brilliant penalty.”

“Yes they had a fantastic goals-against record last season but there are moments in games, or before games even.

“Are you looking across the tunnel across that line thinking ‘I’m going to have to be at my absolute best to get a chance against this Manchester United team’?

“I don’t think so – and that’s a problem for me.”
