Liverpool news: Naby Keita gives Jurgen Klopp Everton boost with conflicting COVID-19 test | Football | Sport
midfielder Naby Keita is set to be available this Saturday for the Merseyside derby, after reportedly returning a negative coronavirus test. The former RB Leipzig man had initially tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week but it now appears to be a false result.
The Reds know they will have to be at the top of their game this weekend, following Everton’s faultless start to the season.
Carlo Ancelotti’s table-topping side have won all seven of their matches this season, including their opening four Premier League games.
Liverpool are out to make amends following their embarrassing 7-2 humiliation at Aston Villa last time out.
Jurgen Klopp looked set to be without Keita, who was the latest Liverpool player to be affected by the coronavirus.
Thankfully for Klopp, he will also be able to call on the services of Sadio Mane and Thiago Alcantara.
The pair were pictured back in training yesterday following their period of isolation.
Mane was forced to sit out of the trip to Villa Park while Thiago has not featured since his debut at Chelsea.
While on international duty, Xherdan Shaqiri also returned a positive that later turned out to be false, the Swiss FA confirmed.
