Liverpool ‘urged’ to sign Foster
Liverpool have been urged to sign Ben Foster from Watford following the Hornets’ relegation from the Premier League.
With Alisson sidelined with a shoulder injury and Adrian under pressure after his latest mistake against Aston Villa, there has been an outside desire for the Reds to sign a new goalkeeper.
However, the ECHO understands Liverpool have no intention of making any such move before Friday’s domestic deadline day.
But speaking to, former England international Kevin Phillips has urged the Reds to make a controversial move for the former Manchester United shot-stopper.
“If I was Jurgen Klopp, I would go for Ben Foster.
“If you put me on the spot. Give me Ben Foster any day of the week.
“He was outstanding for Watford last season, even though they went down. Foster is a safe pair of hands, even at his age.
“I would pick him over Jack Butland. Foster has been far more consistent and has the greater experience as well.”
