Chelsea boss Frank Lampard teases transfer exits after Barnsley win as three stars unhappy | Football | Sport

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has confirmed there could be some movement involving the likes of Antonio Rudiger, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi before the transfer window closes.

After seven new signings this summer, Lampard has an abundance of options at his disposal.

But it also means a number of players are on the fringes of the team.

Antonio Rudiger has not been included in any of Chelsea’s matchday squads this season while Loftus-Cheek has been snubbed in the past two matches after a below par display on the opening weekend of the season.

Hudson-Odoi made his first start of the season on Wednesday in 6-0 win over Barnsley in the Carabao Cup but is understood to want more playing time.

It all means Lampard is handling a tricky situation so close to the end of the transfer window and he admits decisions will be taken in the coming days.

“The situation with both [Rudiger and Loftus-Cheek] is that they weren’t in the squad,” Lampard said.

“I had a similar answer from the other day; they just weren’t in the squad. That is just a choice at the moment.

“I’m delighted with Kai, it was everything I wanted the night to be for him. I said it at the last two games, Kai has had no sort of pre-season and obviously signing for the club I think at the same time took a few days out of him as well,” he said.

“So tonight was a great exercise for him, another game to see how we want to work off the ball, he could be part of that, he makes the recovery tackle for Ross’ goal, but then to also just have some freedom on the ball and roaming central areas behind Tammy.

“The combinations he had with Tammy, the way he grew into the game, got confidence, gets his three goals. I’m very happy for Kai, the first of many for him.”
