Alexis Sanchez tears into Man Utd and admits he demanded Arsenal return in scathing rant | Football | Sport
flop Alexis Sanchez has torn into his old club and admitted he wanted to tear up his contract and return to after just one day at Carrington. The Chilean had a terrible time in Manchester after making the switch from Arsenal, and has discussed how it felt to be dropped by Jose Mourinho.
Sanchez departed United for good at the end of September, signing for Inter Milan on a three-year deal.
United let the 31-year-old leave for free in order to get his extortionate wages off their books.
The winger had hefty expectations placed upon him when he signed for the Red Devils from Arsenal, having cemented his place as one of the best players in the Premier League.
However, after joining United, he was disappointing and failed to find any form.
During his time at Old Trafford, he managed to score just five goals in 45 appearances across all competitions, and was offloaded to Inter on loan last year.
He seemed to rediscover some form while out at Inter, and seems to be enjoying his football again.
Now, he has opened up on that January 2018 move from Arsenal, and emotionally revealed he wanted to quit after his first day training with his new side.
In an Instagram message to United fans addressing his Inter Milan move, he revealed all about how he asked his agent to get him a return to The Emirates.
“It bothered me and I said ‘it can’t be possible’.
“To go from being one of the best in the Premier League to not playing in five months, I came home to my house and I was very sad.
“The next day I trained in a double shift, because I love what I do.”
After Mourinho was sacked and replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Sanchez was able to find a way out of the club, and confirmed he asked to be sold.
However, he insisted he still had affection for United fans, and admitted he wished things had gone differently at Old Trafford.
Sanchez continued: “Journalists spoke without knowing and it bothered me, it hurt.
“Former players spoke who had no idea of anything that was happening inside the club and gave their opinion damaging you, like it was your fault. Since they had to blame someone, they blamed me.
“I only have words of thanks to United for giving me the opportunity to defend the shirt.
